Farewell, For Now.*

Well, I think it’s time to put this blog to bed.  I don’t have much to post here anymore and I don’t really post anything on a too frequent basis.  I’ll definitely leave the blog up so you can check out all my DIYs (remember, there’s a DIY tab at the top of the page), and you can definitely still comment on any post to get a hold of me (I no longer use the email address associated with this blog).  Please come visit me at my other blog, The Bookworm Wife, where I post my musings on life, books, food, home décor, crafts and more.

It’s been a great ride and I have loved sharing my wedding planning journey with you all!

*I may post again someday, if I think something really deserves to be posted here.  I don’t think I can ever close the book on this blog entirely!

The Post In Which I Finally Tell You About My New Blog

So, first things first.  I’m not actually done posting here!  I still have a few more posts about some upcoming weddings I’m attending (I’m the matron of honor in one), plus the shower/bachelorette I’m helping throw, plus a few more ways we’ve repurposed some of our wedding projects.  So please don’t dump me from your Google Readers quite yet!  I’ll still be updating, though not as frequently as I have been in recent months.  I definitely still love weddings and hope to continue posting here for a long time to come!

Second things second:  time for a little sap.

THANK YOU.  Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of my readers who have supported me throughout this process.  It has been so wonderful to be part of such a fabulous community of wedding bloggers.  It’s kind of hard to put into words—I definitely can’t explain it to most people in my real life, nor do most of them understand—that bond of friendship that forms between bloggers.  It’s a phenomenon, really.  So thank you to all of you who have laughed with me, cried with me, bitched with me, and helped me wade through the waters and wrap my head around this huge, life-changing event.  I lived for your comments and I loved reading every single one.  Your kind words and support left me feeling like I was never alone.  So thank you to each and every one of you for taking a peek into my life and letting me share our wedding with you.  Truly, I’m so grateful.

Third things third, MY NEW BLOG!!!!!  Drum roll please…

Yep, I jumped off the ledge into my own domain.  And I’m so glad I did!  So head on over and check it out.  Please know that it’s still a work in progress, so there will be many more updates to the look and design in the coming months.  But I just couldn’t wait any longer to share it with you!  You’ll find posts about my life, marriage, home décor, food, fitness, and most of all, books & reading, because above all else, my nerdish “bookworm” tendencies help define who I am.  You might find the posts there a bit different from the ones posted here, as I’m trying to let the “real” me come across more in my blogging (not that you didn’t get the real me here, but, for example, I swear like a sailor in real life so some of my posts there might be a bit more crass).  I hope you’ll follow along on our next adventures!

THANK YOU for reading.

With love,
Little Miss Wedding Planner

On My Absence

Alternatively titled, Sorry Blog Readers, I hope you’ll forgive me!

As has been apparent by my recent absence, I am bored with writing about our honeymoon.  And frankly, if I’m bored, it means you, as readers, are likely bored too.  It’s not that our honeymoon was boring, at all, because it certainly wasn’t!  It’s just that honeymoon posts are, let’s face it, kind of boring, so I feel I need to apologize.  I strongly dislike when bloggers disappear, and it was never my intention to do so.  Granted, I’ve had a lot of things going on lately (namely a big bout of laryngitis, which I STILL have), but that’s no excuse.  The truth is, I’m just bored with writing the blog lately and I feel like I have some big time writer’s block going on.

This past weekend, we hung out with friends at my alma mater, UW-Madison.  On the way home, we stopped to visit with my parents.  My mom had dug out all of her old scrapbooks of my sister and I growing up, and we had such a blast looking through them.  She also dug out something I haven’t thought about in years:  a collection of short stories I wrote when I was in elementary school.  Tons of different stories—scary stories, stories about sick kids, fantasy stories, stories about relationships…and all of them illustrated and laminated and bound in books complete with “About the Author” sections written by me.

When I was little, I never said I wanted to be a writer when I grew up.  People would ask, as people often do, and I seem to remember that my answers were always teacher, marine biologist, or whatever exotic career I had read about that week.  Meanwhile, I always had my head buried in a book, and I was always writing.

I don’t know why I’ve never thought about writing as a career.  I’ve always loved to do it.  The written word is something I am passionate about.  I would rather be reading a book than doing pretty much anything else.  I am constantly telling the story of my every day happenings inside my head.  With blogging, I sometimes get to write it down.

The point is, I am refocusing, and that’s why I haven’t been posting as much lately.  I’ve been reading a lot of books and re-reading a lot of great posts about freelancing and writing in general from some other inspiring bloggers.  And I am constantly remembering those childhood stories I wrote so long ago.  They sparked something in me this week, and I want to take some time to fan the flames a little.

As an aside, I am working to get my post-wedding blog up and running, with at least a few posts going before I go live with my readers.  So for now, I’m going to finish the honeymoon posts up by letting the pictures tell most of the story (look for that post later today or early next week).  I hope you won’t mind.  And of course, I’ll still be doing all of the wedding recaps (I am dying to share those with you all!).  I just found out our online gallery of pictures will go live next week, so I should be able to work on some recap posts over the Thanksgiving holiday!  Yay!

Lastly, I just want to say a quick thank you to my readers.  You guys are great, and I have made so many wonderful friends through blogging.  Thanks for excusing my absence lately and know that things are finally moving around here again!

Now you tell me:  what did you want to be when you grew up?  Are you doing that?  Like me, did marriage cause you to re-evaluate things like your career?

I’m Back…

Amy 2

…and I’m married!

It. Was. Amazing.  Seriously, seriously, amazing.  And I have so many wonderful stories to share with you guys!  Please excuse me this week, as I get caught up at the office, at home, and on the blog.  A HUGE THANKS to all my guest bloggers last week—you guys did a great job!  I plan on recapping our honeymoon and then getting down to the business of the big day…plus I have a few last minute projects to share with you guys (well, ONE last minute project…our favors!).  It’ll be slow going around here this week but I promise to get moving on everything quickly!  Our pro pics will be available in about a month, but don’t worry—I have plenty of other pictures and posts to share with you until then!

Thank you all so much for your wonderful, sweet comments on the blog and Twitter during those magical days leading up to, during, and after the wedding.  It is so much appreciated and I held you all near and dear to my heart that day!

And to tide you over a bit, here’s some of my favorite pictures I’ve seen so far of the day:

A Million Thank Yous

Well, here we are.  I can’t believe it!  I must apologize for my absence this week—I thought I would have more time to blog, but I spent the week wrapping up loose ends at work, finishing our favors, and getting ready for the wedding.  And now, suddenly, it’s here.  23 months ago, it felt so far away…and in an instant, here we are.  The list is empty, the favors are packaged, our friends and family are slowly arriving in town.  My sister and I are headed out for mani-pedis in a little bit, and I am sitting here blogging…struck by the fact that in a blink, I know this will all be over.  And you know what?  I’m excited.  I can’t wait to be Mrs. Bradley LongLastName!

So, here’s to you guys.  Thank you, each and everyone of you, who ever commented, offered support or advice, and in general, kept me sane.  Your support has meant the world to me, and I could have  never imagined the friendships that blogging about our wedding planning would bring me.  Thank you, thank you, thank you—honestly, words cannot express my thanks!  I love all of you dearly and will hold you all in my heart these next few days.

Another quick thank you to my guest bloggers next week…you guys are in for a real treat—two posts a day for five days while Dr. Groomy and I are off gallivanting in San Francisco and Napa Valley.  I’ll try to check in and say hello!

I’ll be thanking our family and friends at the rehearsal dinner tonight, but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Dr. Groomy here.  Honey, we’re here!  This is it!  Thank you for letting me spread my wings during the course of our planning and take the reigns on nearly everything.  It brought me so much joy to create this wedding, and I am so excited for our friends and family to see it all come together.  You are my best friend and my partner-in-crime, and I cannot wait to be your wife.  I love you more than words can say.

And with that, I’m out.  I’ll see you all on the flip side!

Licensed To Wed

Two posts in one day?!  You lucky readers!

This is just a quick one to say that we are officially licensed to wed.  We applied for our marriage license last week at the courthouse…

…but we didn’t get to pick it up until today.  Dr. Groomy went to get it on his way to work, and then brought it to my office so that we could snap a few pics!

Marriage License 002  Look at that beard!  And that messy bulletin board, haha!

Marriage License 003

So let me hear a “woo, woo!”  We’re all set to wed!  Yay!  18 more days…
